Fantasy matchup FAQ

Can I use Betty Sports for fantasy football?

Yes. Betty's NFL matchup data works for fantasy players as well as bettors. The free fantasy pages rank every defense by the passing, rushing and points it allows, list the highest projected game totals, and flag run and pass funnel defenses for the week. Betty does not tell you who to start or sit.

What is a good fantasy matchup?

A favorable matchup is an offense facing a defense that allows a lot of yards or points, ideally in a game with a high projected total. Betty ranks every defense from the most allowed to the fewest so you can see which offenses have the softer opponent this week.

What is a run funnel or pass funnel defense?

A funnel defense is much weaker against one phase than the other. A pass funnel stops the run well but gives up passing yards, so offenses tend to throw against it. Betty flags a funnel when the gap between a defense's passing and rushing yards allowed is large relative to the rest of the league.

Where do the projected game totals come from?

When sportsbooks have posted lines, Betty splits the market game total by the spread to estimate each team's points. Before lines are posted it estimates each side from its points scored and the opponent's points allowed, and labels it as a stats estimate.

Is this start/sit advice?

No. The fantasy pages are matchup data from season team stats. Injuries, weather, depth charts and usage change every week, so use them as one input alongside your own research.
